| WHO HAS THE FINAL SAY
One time I saw on TV a nasty tribute to a comedian actor who was celebrating a Birthday. It was a ROAST. There were other comedians who were prepared to tell all kinds of bad jokes about the celebrant. One comedian said, "Our celebrant tonight is the man of the house. In any decision in the house he always has the final say. He has the final words. And his words are always, "Yes, Dear." One time our celebrant become tough. He squared off with his wife and told her that he is the boss of the house and she will obey everything that he will tell her to do. So, how did the wife took it? She fell on her knees. And with her hands on the floor she cried, "COME OUT FROM UNDER THE BED AND FIGHT LIKE A MAN." In 1979 there came out an award-winning movie entitled "Kramer VS Kramer". It was a story of a small family -Mr Ted Kramer a young man at the height of his career. - Mrs. Joanna Kramer a stay-home mom with their son, Billy Kramer. One day Mrs. Kramer got bored, and decided to leave her family to pursue her own career. Mr. Kramer learned to take care of their son but his career got diminished substantially. After one and a half year, the mother, Mrs. Kramer felt that she wanted her son back. She loved her son, but she doesn’t love her husband anymore. And so, the battle for custody ensued. It was a long and bitter battle. And because mothers are mothers, the final word comes from the court, and the judge gave the child to the mother. The father, Mr. Kramer, has grown fond of his son and he was terribly sad. On the day that the mother was about to pick-up the boy, Billy Kramer, the mother realized that the boy and his father has defined what is called THE HOME. The mother realized that she is actually taking the boy away from home. And so in the name of love, the mother volunteered to leave the boy to his father. So, there are realities in life wherein somebody else has the final say for us. We may disagree. But we have to accept the fact that there are serious situations in life wherein someone else will have to have the final say for us. I have seen the life-threatening sickness of Neil Smith. And when Neil had a 50-50 chance to survive, first it was up to the Doctor. And then when the doctors start to give up and reduced medicines and life support, then it was up to God. God has the final say. And God gave back Neil’s life. When you attend the funeral service of a friend or a relative, you always get the reminder that God has the final say. It’s not the Atheists who has the final say. It is not the Evolution Scientists that has the final say in life. It is not Satan who has the las laugh. It is God who has the final say. Death is the final proof that God will have his way on everyone including the devil and his angels. God wants everyone to behave as stewards, as subjects of the Lord, as disciples, as slaves. God wants everyone to humble down to him like a child. God wants everyone to come and listen to him and be obedient to him. But sinners think that they can disobey God, Athiests think that they can snob God. Scientists think they can live without God. But when God takes away life... that’s when we know that God has the final say. God can take away our life. God can punish us. God allows us to decide the choices of our lives whether in subordination to God or not. But in due time, God will always have the final say. Amen. |
